ZEROBASEONE’s Park Gunwook Apologizes Over Fan Sign Event Controversy
ZEROBASEONE member Park Gunwook has publicly apologized following controversy surrounding a recent fan sign event that sparked accusations of winner number manipulation.
On June 5, the idol shared a lengthy message through a fan communication platform, addressing the criticism and expressing regret over his actions.
“I Should Have Been More Careful”
In his statement, Park acknowledged that he should have exercised greater caution during the event.
“I wanted to sincerely apologize for my actions at the recent fan sign event,” he wrote. “I should have made more careful judgments at the time, but I failed to do so. I understand that my actions caused confusion and hurt to many people.”
The singer added that he deeply regrets disappointing fans and promised to reflect seriously on the incident.
Apology Extended to Fans, Members, and Staff
Park emphasized that he has always valued the support he receives from fans but admitted he failed to live up to their expectations.
He also apologized to ZEROBASEONE’s fanbase, known as ZEROSE, as well as his fellow members and staff members who have supported the group throughout its activities.
“I am sincerely sorry for causing disappointment to everyone who believed in and supported us during this album promotion,” he said.
What Sparked the Controversy?
The controversy began after a video from a recent fan sign event circulated on social media.
During the event, Park announced the winning number for a special Polaroid giveaway as “10.” However, some attendees later shared photos appearing to show that the number written on the back of the paper was actually “9.”
The discrepancy led some fans to question whether the winning number had been changed to benefit a specific participant, prompting widespread online criticism.
Fans Debate Intentions
While some fans argued that the incident may have been a simple mistake, others demanded clarification regarding the selection process.
The issue quickly gained traction across social media platforms, eventually leading Park to issue his public apology.
