HYBE’s new girl group TUIDE has delivered a strong opening week, with TUIDE debut album sales surpassing 112,000 copies and placing the rookie act among the Top 10 highest-selling girl group debut albums in first-week sales.
According to Hanteo Chart data cited in Korean media on Aug. 31, TUIDE’s first EP TUNE & PLAY sold 112,282 copies during its first week of release. The figure ranks No. 10 among girl group debut albums based on first-week sales and is also the highest first-week total among female acts that debuted in South Korea this year.
The milestone gives the seven-member group an early commercial boost just one week after entering the increasingly competitive K-pop girl group market.
TUIDE Debut Album Sales Put Rookie Group in Top 10
TUNE & PLAY was released on Aug. 24 alongside its title track “SUN KISS,” officially introducing TUIDE as the first girl group from ABD, HYBE’s new subsidiary dedicated to girl groups.
TUIDE consists of seven members: Seohee, Seoyeon, Elena, Jia, Saki, Seah and Yi Hani.
The group has attracted significant attention even before its debut, in part because it represents the first act launched by ABD. Seoyeon also drew early interest as the younger sister of TWICE member Jihyo.
But the latest numbers provide TUIDE with something more important than pre-debut attention: measurable commercial performance.
With TUIDE debut album sales reaching 112,282 copies, the group now has one of the 10 biggest first-week sales totals ever recorded for a girl group’s debut album.
‘SUN KISS’ Gains Momentum on Korean Charts
The physical album milestone comes as title track “SUN KISS” shows signs of gaining traction across Korean music platforms.
According to figures released alongside the first-week sales results, “SUN KISS” reached No. 5 on Apple Music’s Top 100: South Korea on Aug. 29 and No. 6 on YouTube Korea’s trending music ranking the following day.
The song also climbed to No. 24 on Spotify’s Daily Top Songs chart in South Korea after rising 159 positions following its entry.
Meanwhile, the “SUN KISS” music video passed 10 million views on Aug. 30 after previously reaching No. 1 on YouTube Korea’s daily popular music video ranking and No. 15 on YouTube’s global chart.
The group’s debut had already shown early signs of interest. All five tracks from TUNE & PLAY entered Melon’s Hot 100 chart for songs released within the previous 30 days on release day.
What Is TUIDE’s ‘Soultronic’ Sound?
Rather than relying on a single conventional K-pop genre, TUIDE has introduced its musical identity under the term “soultronic.”
The group describes the sound as a combination of soul and electronic music, with TUNE & PLAY incorporating influences from R&B, house and UK garage.
The five-track EP contains “ABD,” “SUN KISS,” “Echo,” “Flip-Flop Girl” and “GRLS.”
The album was produced with involvement from veteran producer Han Sung-soo and production duo GroovyRoom.
The group’s name TUIDE, meanwhile, was inspired by the phrase “Tune the tide,” representing the idea of bringing different musical currents together to create a new flow.

A Strong Start — But the Next Step Matters
Selling more than 112,000 copies in a debut week represents a notable start, but TUIDE now faces the bigger challenge confronting any heavily promoted rookie group: turning initial curiosity into sustained fandom and chart performance.
HYBE’s backing gives the group substantial visibility, while ABD has positioned TUIDE around a distinct musical identity rather than simply presenting the members as another new girl group.
The early numbers suggest that strategy has generated attention.
International media have also begun introducing the group to global audiences. In the week surrounding their debut, TUIDE appeared in coverage and interviews from publications including The Hollywood Reporter and Teen Vogue, adding to their early overseas visibility.
Still, first-week album sales tell only part of the story.
Whether “SUN KISS” can continue climbing, whether TUIDE can build a recognizable fandom outside South Korea, and how the group follows TUNE & PLAY will ultimately provide a clearer picture of its long-term potential.
For now, however, 112,282 first-week copies and an all-time Top 10 debut ranking give TUIDE one of the stronger girl group launches of 2026.
