ILLIT member Moka has temporarily suspended all activities due to health concerns, just days before the group’s scheduled comeback, her agency confirmed.
Belift Lab said on April 20 via the fan platform Weverse that Moka recently sought medical treatment after experiencing health issues. According to the agency, medical professionals advised that she requires “sufficient rest and ongoing treatment,” prompting the decision to pause her schedule.
Agency prioritizes recovery despite comeback timeline
The announcement comes at a critical moment, with ILLIT set to release their fourth mini album “MAMIHLAPINATAPAI” on April 30. Despite the tight promotional timeline, the agency emphasized that the artist’s health remains the top priority.
“Although the artist has a strong will to continue activities, we determined that focusing on recovery is necessary,” the company said, adding that Moka will not participate in upcoming official schedules for the time being.
Belift Lab noted that it will closely monitor her condition and provide updates regarding her return once her recovery progress becomes clearer. The label also pledged full support to ensure she can return to fans in good health.

Rising rookie group faces unexpected disruption
The sudden hiatus has drawn attention given ILLIT’s rapid rise since debut. Formed through the 2023 survival program “R U Next?”, the five-member group—comprising Yunah, Minju, Moka, Wonhee, and Iroha—has been positioned as a key next-generation act under HYBE.
Their 2024 debut track “Magnetic” became a breakout global hit, entering major international charts and gaining traction across short-form platforms. The group achieved a rare milestone for a rookie act by reaching the Billboard Hot 100 with a debut song, alongside charting on the UK Official Singles Chart.
Industry observers have pointed to ILLIT’s concept—centered on candid, youthful storytelling—as a major factor behind their appeal. The group’s ability to blend relatable themes with polished performance has helped them quickly establish a distinct identity in a crowded market.
Fan support grows amid health concerns
News of Moka’s hiatus has prompted an outpouring of support from fans, particularly given the timing so close to the group’s comeback. Messages encouraging her to focus on recovery have circulated widely, reflecting growing awareness around artist health in the K-pop industry.
While her absence may affect initial promotions, the group is expected to proceed with the album release as scheduled. Whether adjustments will be made to performances or promotional activities has not yet been detailed.
The situation highlights the ongoing balance between demanding comeback cycles and artist well-being, an issue that has increasingly come into focus across the industry. For now, the agency’s decision signals a cautious approach, prioritizing long-term health over immediate promotional gains.
ILLIT’s upcoming release will mark their first comeback of 2026, with attention now split between the group’s next musical chapter and Moka’s recovery timeline.
