ADOR has officially addressed speculation surrounding Minji and her potential return to NewJeans, fueling renewed anticipation among fans.
On May 7, ADOR told local media that discussions regarding Minji’s future activities are still ongoing internally. While the agency remained cautious about revealing specifics, it notably added that talks are “moving in an overall positive direction.”
Although ADOR emphasized that no detailed decisions have been finalized, the agency’s latest statement marks one of its most optimistic comments yet regarding Minji’s status.
Interest surrounding her return intensified the same day after NewJeans’ official social media account uploaded photos captioned “HAPPY MINJI DAY,” showing Minji carefully baking cookies for fans.
The behind-the-scenes images carried added significance because they were shared directly through ADOR’s official channels, leading many fans to interpret the move as a signal that Minji may be gradually reconnecting with official group activities.
Long-Running Contract Dispute Shaped Group’s Hiatus
NewJeans has been entangled in an ongoing contract dispute since November 2024, when the members attempted to separate from ADOR. However, after losing the legal battle over their exclusive contracts, several members eventually resumed communication and activities with the agency.
Haerin and Hyein returned first, followed by Hanni. Minji, however, remained in extended discussions with the agency for more than five months, with both sides reportedly working to “broaden mutual understanding.”
Earlier this year, online rumors spread after Hanni, Haerin, and Hyein were allegedly spotted in Copenhagen, Denmark, leading to speculation that NewJeans was preparing for a three-member comeback.
At the time, ADOR clarified that the trip was part of a pre-production process connected to the group’s new musical narrative. The agency also explained that members were preparing activities according to their individual conditions and optimized schedules.
Even then, ADOR remained noticeably careful whenever Minji’s status was mentioned, repeatedly stating only that discussions were continuing.

Minji’s Recent Fan Interaction Became Turning Point
Public attention toward Minji reignited after she recently surprised fans by visiting a birthday café prepared in her honor. She reportedly left behind handmade cookies, photo booth pictures, and handwritten letters for fans known as Bunnies.
In her letter, Minji emotionally wrote, “There are so many things I want to say to Bunnies, but I’m sure the opportunity will come. Please stay healthy and happy.”
Combined with ADOR’s newest statement and official birthday content, many fans now believe discussions surrounding Minji’s return may finally be nearing a breakthrough.
Danielle’s Situation Remains SeparateMeanwhile, Danielle remains in a separate legal dispute after declaring contract termination. ADOR is currently pursuing a large-scale damages lawsuit against Danielle, former ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin, and related parties.
As uncertainty surrounding the group slowly clears, attention is now focused on whether Minji’s possible return could mark the beginning of NewJeans’ long-awaited full-scale comeback.
