CIX Disbands After 7 Years; Seunghun Announces Retirement

CIX has officially disbanded after seven years, with member Seunghun announcing his retirement from the entertainment industry.

On April 29, Seunghun shared a handwritten letter via social media addressed to fans, known as FIX. Reflecting on his journey, he expressed gratitude for their unwavering support, admitting that he had faced moments of self-doubt and felt he had not always met expectations.

“I was lacking in many ways, but thanks to FIX who believed in me and supported me until the end, I was able to become a better person,” he wrote, emphasizing the deep connection he built with fans over the years.

Seunghun also opened up about the emotional challenges he experienced more recently, acknowledging that he had struggled to maintain the same level of communication with fans. He apologized for any disappointment, clarifying that his feelings toward fans had never diminished despite difficult times.

In a significant announcement, he revealed his decision to step away from his career as a singer. “After much thought, I’ve decided to put down the title of ‘singer’ for now and start a new life as an individual off stage,” he said, describing the decision as both necessary and daunting after dedicating most of his life to music and performance.

He also expressed gratitude toward his fellow members, including BX, Yonghee, and Hyunsuk, thanking them for sharing both joyful and difficult moments throughout their journey.

According to C9 Entertainment, CIX will conclude group activities following the expiration of members’ contracts. BX and Seunghun’s contracts end on April 30, while Hyunsuk’s contract is set to expire on May 31 as he continues filming a drama. Yonghee, meanwhile, has applied for military enlistment and will begin his service in May.

Debuting in July 2019, CIX built a dedicated fanbase and delivered multiple releases over the years. As the group closes this chapter, Seunghun’s retirement marks a particularly emotional turning point—bringing an end to a significant era for both the artist and his fans.
