Kim Junsu is set to return to the music scene with a new full-length album, marking his first studio release in nearly a decade.

Recently, his agency Palm Tree Island confirmed that Kim Junsu will release his fifth studio album GRAVITY in June, officially kicking off his long-awaited comeback as a recording artist. The project comes as he transitions back to his roots in music following years of focus on musical theater.

First full album in a decade signals major return

GRAVITY will be Kim Junsu’s first full-length album since XIGNATURE, released in 2016, making this comeback particularly significant for fans who have followed his journey across multiple stages of the industry. His most recent music release was the 2024 digital single I’ll Be Waiting for You in the Twenty-First Season.

Before establishing himself as a solo artist under the name XIA, Kim Junsu rose to global fame as a member of TVXQ, one of K-pop’s most influential second-generation groups. His time in the group played a pivotal role in shaping the global expansion of K-pop, with numerous chart-topping releases and large-scale international tours.

Following his departure, he continued his career through the project group JYJ, further solidifying his presence as a vocalist and performer before fully transitioning into solo and musical theater activities.

Alongside the new album announcement, a teaser image was unveiled through his official social media channels, intensifying anticipation for the release. The visual features a beam of light emerging from darkness, forming a concentrated focal point that highlights the album title GRAVITY.

Concept explores connection and inevitability

The album’s title, GRAVITY, refers to the force that draws objects toward one another. According to the agency, the concept reflects a narrative of individuals who, despite moving through different periods and experiences, are ultimately drawn back together by an unchanging connection.

A track titled How Is Your Goodbye, previously previewed during his concert XIA 2025 CONCERT Chapter 2: Festa, is confirmed to be included in the album, heightening anticipation for the full tracklist and title song.

Kim Junsu is currently finalizing the album, focusing on delivering a project that reflects both his musical maturity and long-standing artistic vision.

Balancing stage and music career

In recent years, Kim Junsu has been widely recognized for his work in musical theater, starring in productions such as Aladdin, Beetlejuice, and Death Note.

Following the conclusion of Beetlejuice, he is set to continue his performances with Death Note while also appearing in various broadcast programs throughout 2026. Despite his demanding schedule, the upcoming release of GRAVITY underscores his continued versatility as an artist.

As anticipation builds ahead of the June release, attention is turning to how Kim Junsu’s long-awaited return as a recording artist will shape the next chapter of his career.
