NMIXX is set to return with a new mini album, signaling a fresh narrative direction through expanded artistic collaboration and increased member participation.
On April 22, JYP Entertainment confirmed that NMIXX will release its fifth mini album Heavy Serenade on May 11. The announcement was accompanied by a rollout of promotional content, including a tracklist and motion poster shared via official social media channels.
Collaboration and member input shape new release
The album consists of six tracks, led by the title song Heavy Serenade, alongside Crescendo, IDESERVEIT, Different Girl, Superior, and LOUD.
A notable aspect of the project is the involvement of Hanroro, who contributed lyrics to the title track. Known for a distinctive lyrical style, Hanroro’s participation introduces a new creative dimension to NMIXX’s sound and storytelling.
Member contributions further define the album’s identity. Lily and BAE are credited as lyricists on “Crescendo” and “Different Girl,” respectively, while Lily also took sole responsibility for writing the lyrics to the closing track “LOUD.” The involvement reflects a continued effort by the group to expand its artistic role beyond performance.

Visual storytelling hints at contrasting themes
The motion poster released alongside the tracklist offers insight into the album’s conceptual tone. The visual depicts a glass flower shimmering under a violet night sky before shattering into fragments, which then collide to produce sound.
The imagery juxtaposes calm and destruction, suggesting a layered emotional narrative that blends beauty with tension. This contrast appears to align with the album’s title Heavy Serenade, hinting at a sonic direction that balances intensity with melodic expression.
Pre-release stages and promotional rollout
Ahead of the official release, NMIXX will first introduce the new project through live performances. The group is scheduled to appear at the “Eve Festa,” a pre-event for the LCK Team Roadshow: T1 Homeground hosted by T1 Entertainment & Sports on April 24, where they will perform “Superior.”
In addition, the music video for “Crescendo” will be released in advance on April 28, offering an early preview of the album’s sound and visual concept.
NMIXX’s upcoming release follows its first full-length album Blue Valentine, which marked a significant step in the group’s musical trajectory last year. With Heavy Serenade, the group continues to build on that foundation, incorporating broader creative input while refining its evolving identity.
The mini album will be available on major music platforms on May 11 at 6 p.m. KST.
