aespa unveiled its pre-release single WDA (Whole Different Animal) today at 6 p.m. KST through major music platforms, raising anticipation for the group’s upcoming second full-length album.
“WDA (Whole Different Animal)” is a hip-hop-based dance track built around powerful synth bass and a heavy hook, showcasing aespa’s stronger and more evolved musical identity. The song also signals the beginning of a new chapter in the group’s expansive universe storyline.
G-Dragon Joins aespa for Explosive New Era
Adding even more excitement, G-Dragon participated as a featured artist and contributed to the rap-making for his own verses, creating a highly anticipated collaboration between the K-pop icons.
The music video, which will be released simultaneously through SMTOWN YouTube Channel and other platforms, explores a world where the boundary between reality and the digital realm has become increasingly blurred. In the video, beings that resemble aespa—but are not truly the members themselves—appear throughout a chaotic environment. Amid the confusion and collisions, aespa ultimately breaks through what the group calls “Complaexity” and reclaims its identity.

Since debut, aespa has built its signature narrative around “ae-aespa,” virtual counterparts that coexist alongside the members’ real-world personas. The new music video questions authenticity in an era of endlessly replicated and consumed online images, continuing the storytelling tradition and prompting viewers to ask, “What is real?”
WDA’ Music Video Explores Reality vs. Digital Identity
Ahead of the release, aespa will also host a “‘WDA’ Countdown Live” broadcast beginning at 5 p.m. KST through the group’s YouTube and TikTok channels, where the members will discuss the new song and communicate directly with fans.
Meanwhile, aespa’s second full-length album LEMONADE is scheduled for release on May 29 at 1 p.m. KST in both digital and physical formats.
