The BIGBANG comeback is doing more than sending the group’s new music to No. 1. It is bringing songs released nearly two decades ago back onto South Korea’s music charts.
BIGBANG’s catalog saw a dramatic resurgence in August as G-Dragon, Taeyang and Daesung celebrated the group’s 20th anniversary with new single “BiiiG” and the launch of their new world tour.
According to data released by Melon, total streams across BIGBANG’s catalog surged 333% in August compared with July.
The revival was not limited to recent material.
Classic hits including “Haru Haru,” “Lies” and “Still Life” returned to the Melon TOP100 as a new generation of listeners and longtime VIPs revisited BIGBANG’s catalog.
BIGBANG Comeback Revives ‘Haru Haru’
The most dramatic resurgence came from “Haru Haru.”
Released in 2008, the track had averaged No. 224 on Melon’s daily chart in July. Its ranking began climbing ahead of BIGBANG’s Goyang concerts in August before re-entering the TOP100 at No. 91 on Aug. 23.
One day later, “Haru Haru” had climbed to No. 67.
Melon data showed streams for the song increased 298% compared with its July average.
That means a song released 18 years ago is once again competing on a chart dominated by current K-pop releases.
And “Haru Haru” was not alone.
BIGBANG’s 2022 single “Still Life”, known in Korean as “Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter,” rose from an average daily ranking of No. 231 in July to No. 86 on the TOP100 on Aug. 24.
Even more strikingly, “Lies,” released in 2007, returned to the TOP100 and reached No. 90 on Aug. 24.
‘BiiiG’ Goes Straight to No. 1
At the center of the renewed interest is BIGBANG’s new digital single “BiiiG.”
Released on Aug. 19 as part of the group’s 20th-anniversary activities, the high-energy hip-hop track features G-Dragon as a lyricist and composer.
“BiiiG” immediately reached No. 1 on both Melon’s TOP100 and daily chart following its release.
The track also topped real-time charts on other major Korean music platforms including Genie, Bugs and Vibe. On Melon, it recorded the highest number of unique listeners in the first hour among songs released in 2026, according to YG Entertainment.
The comeback has also registered beyond South Korea.
“BiiiG” ranked No. 1 for two consecutive weeks on the Global K-Chart, jointly operated using data from Melon, China’s Tencent Music and Japan’s LINE MUSIC.

Goyang Concerts Give Old Hits Another Boost
BIGBANG’s return to the concert stage appears to have accelerated the revival.
The group opened its 2026-2027 “XX: COSMOS” world tour with three concerts at Goyang Stadium from Aug. 21 through Aug. 23.
“Haru Haru,” “Still Life” and “Lies” were all included in the concert setlist, and listening activity around the songs rose sharply before and after the shows.
The result is unusual even by K-pop standards.
Rather than generating interest only in the new single, BIGBANG’s anniversary comeback has pushed listeners back through a catalog stretching across almost the entire modern history of K-pop.
The numbers illustrate the scale of that renewed interest: 333% more streaming across the group’s catalog in a single month.
BIGBANG Marks 20 Years With New Momentum
BIGBANG debuted in 2006 and became one of the defining acts of K-pop’s second generation.
Twenty years later, the group is again promoting as G-Dragon, Taeyang and Daesung, with new music and a major international tour.
Their latest chart performance provides a particularly striking measure of the group’s longevity.
A No. 1 comeback single is one thing. Having songs from 2007 and 2008 re-enter a major streaming chart nearly two decades later tells a different story.
For BIGBANG, the 20th-anniversary comeback is not simply creating nostalgia.
It is sending listeners back to the music that helped define the group in the first place.
