Yves has released her fourth EP NAIL, presenting what she describes as a defining moment in her solo career as she continues to expand her musical identity.
The EP was released on April 17 at 1 p.m. KST across major streaming platforms. Centered around the concept of “sensation,” NAIL uses the titular object as a metaphor to explore lingering emotions and personal reflection. The album contains five tracks, including the title song “NAIL,” which features French-American artist Lolo Zouaï.
Yves participated directly in the songwriting process, shaping the project’s thematic direction and sonic identity. The title track blends alternative hip-hop elements with introspective lyrics, using a wordplay between “nail” and “내일” (tomorrow) to convey a message about focusing on the present rather than being preoccupied with what lies ahead.
Global collaborations expand musical spectrum
The EP stands out for its international collaborations, also featuring Chinese artist Lexie Liu. According to Yves, both artists became involved organically after expressing interest in her music, resulting in a project that reflects a wider creative range.
She noted that working with artists of distinct styles allowed her to broaden her own musical spectrum. Beyond the music itself, Yves emphasized that visual elements such as fashion and overall concept were developed in tandem with the collaborators, contributing to a cohesive artistic direction.
The result is an album that balances heavier emotional themes with accessibility, aiming to resonate with listeners on a personal level while maintaining a refined production quality.
“A turning point” in solo career
Yves described NAIL as both a personal and professional turning point. In interviews surrounding the release, she explained that the EP captures thoughts and emotions she has accumulated over time, presented in a more candid and direct way than her previous work.
Rather than defining herself through a single image, she compared her artistic identity to a set of ever-changing forms—like different designs on each fingernail—reflecting her intention to continuously evolve.
The release comes approximately eight months after her previous project, with Yves acknowledging the anticipation from fans and expressing hope that the effort invested in the album would be reflected in its reception.
From LOONA to independent solo artist
Before embarking on her solo path, Yves gained recognition as a member of LOONA and its subunit yyxy. She debuted under Blockberry Creative in 2017, participating in the group’s distinctive pre-debut project and subsequent promotions.
Following her departure from the agency in 2023, Yves transitioned into independent activities and is currently signed to Paix Per Mil. Her solo career has since focused on establishing a distinct artistic voice separate from her group identity.
NAIL represents her fourth EP since beginning this new chapter, reinforcing her position as a self-directed artist navigating both musical and conceptual experimentation.

Tour plans to follow release
In parallel with the EP launch, Yves is set to begin a world tour, starting with European dates in April followed by performances in North America through May and June.
She indicated that the tour will highlight her new material, with performances structured to feel like immersive showcases of her music. The concerts are expected to blend live stages with elements of a listening experience, offering audiences a closer connection to her evolving sound.
As she continues to build her solo career, NAIL signals a clear step forward—both in artistic scope and in the confidence with which Yves presents her work to a global audience.
