A web variety show hosted by Shin Dong-yup is facing growing backlash after a teaser involving members of Tomorrow X Together (TXT) sparked controversy over inappropriate content.

The production team of the YouTube program “Jjanhan Hyung Shin Dong-yup” recently released a preview featuring TXT members Soobin and Beomgyu. In the clip, MCs appeared to pressure Soobin into a situation widely criticized as inappropriate, with the idol himself expressing discomfort, saying he felt “humiliated.”

Following the teaser’s release, criticism quickly spread among both Korean and international fans. The production team has since deleted the video, but no official apology has been issued by the show or its hosts, further fueling frustration.

On May 1, the show’s producers told OSEN that “after collecting fans’ feedback, modifications were made to the teaser and video,” signaling a partial response to the backlash. However, the absence of a direct apology continues to draw criticism.

Fans strongly condemned not only the segment itself but also the decision to include it in promotional material. Online reactions included calls for accountability, with many questioning how such content was approved and edited for public release. Some viewers went as far as demanding the cancellation of the episode altogether.

The controversy is now expanding beyond online criticism. TXT’s fandom has begun organizing collective action, issuing statements that describe the teaser as inappropriate for idol content and raising concerns about artist protection. There are also plans for offline protests targeting BigHit Music, the group’s agency, urging stronger safeguards for the artists.

While the show is known for its candid, alcohol-influenced conversations, critics argue that this context does not justify crossing boundaries—especially on a platform accessible to younger audiences. The fact that the artist directly expressed discomfort has intensified the debate, with many emphasizing the need for clearer standards in variety content involving idols.

As the situation continues to unfold, the controversy highlights a broader issue within entertainment media: where to draw the line between humor and respect, particularly when global K-pop artists are involved.
