Super Junior member Yesung is marking a decade of his solo career with a new full-length Japanese album and an accompanying tour, signaling a major milestone for the veteran K-pop vocalist.

According to his agency SM Entertainment, Yesung will release his second Japanese studio album, “咲き誇る時を待つのは” (Waiting for the Time to Bloom), on May 27. Ahead of the official launch, tracks from the album will be pre-released globally on April 24, kicking off his 10th anniversary solo promotions.

A decade of solo artistry reflected in new album

Yesung debuted as a solo artist in 2016 across both Korea and Japan, steadily building a distinct musical identity alongside his activities with Super Junior. Over the years, he has become known for his emotive vocals and introspective songwriting, cultivating a loyal fanbase in both markets.

The upcoming album reflects that journey. Featuring a total of 10 tracks, the project is structured around the theme of the four seasons, symbolizing the passage of time and personal growth. The title track shares the same name as the album, anchoring the narrative of waiting, change, and eventual bloom.

Notably, Yesung participated in writing the lyrics for all songs on the album. Through these tracks, he conveys messages shaped by years of experience, expressing gratitude and reflection toward fans who have supported him throughout different phases of his career.

Industry observers note that the seasonal motif aligns with Yesung’s signature style—lyrical, emotional, and grounded in storytelling—while also reinforcing the significance of a 10-year milestone.

Japan tour to reconnect with fans

In parallel with the album release, Yesung is set to embark on a new Japanese live tour under the same title, marking his return to the country’s concert stage after approximately three years.

The tour will begin in Osaka at Grand Cube on May 5 and 6, followed by a performance in Aichi on May 9. Additional shows are scheduled for May 29 and 30 at Tachikawa Stage Garden in Tokyo, where he will meet fans across multiple cities.

The concerts are expected to feature live performances of tracks from the new album, alongside selections from his previous solo releases. Given Yesung’s reputation for strong live vocals, anticipation is high among fans for the intimate and emotionally driven setlists he is known to deliver.

Continued growth beyond group activities

While Super Junior remains active as a group, Yesung has consistently maintained his solo career, balancing both paths over the past decade. His Japanese releases, in particular, have played a key role in expanding his presence in the region, where he enjoys a dedicated following.

The 10th anniversary project underscores his longevity in an industry often defined by rapid change. By combining a self-written album with a live tour, Yesung is reinforcing his identity not only as an idol but as a mature solo artist with a clear artistic voice.

As he enters the next chapter of his career, the upcoming release and tour serve as both a retrospective and a forward-looking statement—capturing where he has been and hinting at what lies ahead.
