Singer-actress IU is once again earning praise as IU Children’s Day donation news highlights her continued commitment to meaningful philanthropy.

On May 5, her agency EDAM Entertainment announced that IU donated a total of 100 million won under the name “IU UAENA”—a combination of her name and her official fan club, UAENA. The donation was made in celebration of Children’s Day and is intended to provide practical support for children and teenagers in need.

Donation Supports Children’s Welfare and Experiences

The funds were evenly distributed between the Korea Child Welfare Association and the National Federation of Regional Children’s Centers, with each receiving 50 million won.

The donations will be used to support children living in welfare facilities, including essential supplies and medical expenses. Additionally, part of the funding will help children at regional centers celebrate their birthdays with gifts and cultural experiences, offering not just material support but also meaningful memories.

IU has long been recognized for her consistent charitable efforts. She regularly makes donations under the “IU UAENA” name on significant occasions such as her debut anniversary, birthday, and year-end holidays, reinforcing a culture of giving among her fan community.

Her recent contributions further highlight this pattern. At the end of last year, she donated 200 million won, while earlier she contributed another 200 million won to support wildfire recovery efforts and improve conditions for firefighters in Korea. On previous Children’s Days, she also made substantial donations, including 150 million won dedicated to youth support.

A Star Combining Influence With Responsibility

Beyond her music and acting career, IU continues to set an example of positive influence in the entertainment industry. Her approach—combining personal milestones with charitable giving—has resonated widely, strengthening her image as both an artist and a socially responsible public figure.

Meanwhile, IU is currently appearing in the MBC drama 21st Century Grand Lady, where she plays the role of Sung Hee-joo, continuing to connect with audiences through her acting career while maintaining her philanthropic efforts.
