ITZY leader Yeji is drawing concern from fans worldwide as Yeji herniated disc ITZY comeback news emerges just ahead of the group’s highly anticipated return.
On May 5, JYP Entertainment released an official statement confirming that Yeji recently visited a hospital due to lower back pain. Following a detailed examination, she was diagnosed with a herniated disc and was advised by medical professionals to minimize movements that could strain her back.
As a result, Yeji’s participation in performances will be partially limited. JYP announced that during the “ITZY 3RD WORLD TOUR in JAPAN” scheduled for May 9 and 10, her choreography and stage movements will be adjusted to prioritize her health.
The agency emphasized that while there will be restrictions, Yeji remains determined to meet fans and will participate in the performances to the extent possible. “We sincerely apologize for causing concern to fans who have been waiting for her stage,” the statement added.
Comeback Preparations Continue Despite Health Concerns
Despite the unexpected setback, ITZY is set to proceed with their comeback on May 18 with their 12th mini album “Motto.” The album includes the title track of the same name, along with songs such as “Glitch” and “You And I.”
In addition, the album will feature solo tracks first unveiled during the group’s third world tour “TUNNEL VISION,” including “Pocket” (Yeji), “Asylum” (Lia), “LOOK” (Ryujin), “Undefined” (Chaeryeong), and “Tangerine” (Yuna), bringing the total to eight tracks.
Following the announcement, fans have expressed both concern and support, emphasizing the importance of Yeji’s health over performances. As ITZY prepares for a major comeback, attention is now focused on her recovery and how the group will adapt their stages moving forward.
The situation highlights the physical demands placed on K-pop idols, with Yeji’s determination to continue performing underscoring her professionalism—even as fans hope she prioritizes rest and recovery during this critical time.
