BTS will return to one of America’s biggest music award stages as the global K-pop group prepares to appear at the 2026 American Music Awards (AMA).
According to U.S. entertainment outlet Deadline on May 20, BTS will make a special appearance at the 2026 AMA ceremony scheduled for May 25 (local time).
The event will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, and will be broadcast live through CBS and Paramount+.
BTS enters this year’s ceremony with multiple major nominations, including Artist of the Year, Best Male K-pop Artist, and Song of the Summer for their title track “Swim.”
The American Music Awards holds particular significance in BTS’s global career history. In 2017, the group made its landmark U.S. television debut at the AMAs with a performance of “DNA,” becoming the first Korean group ever to perform at the ceremony since its launch in 1974.
That appearance is widely considered one of the defining moments that accelerated BTS’s breakthrough into the American mainstream music market.

BTS Building Dominant Legacy at AMAs
Over the years, BTS has continued building a dominant legacy at the AMAs. The group won Artist of the Year in 2021 and Favorite K-pop Artist in 2022. The accumulated total amounts to 11 AMA trophies to date.
Among groups, BTS currently holds the second-highest number of AMA wins in history, trailing only legendary country band Alabama.
This year’s ceremony will also feature performances by artists including KATSEYE, Billy Idol, and Riley Green,. Anticipation is also escalating over one of the biggest nights in global pop music.
BTS continues balancing worldwide touring activities with high‑profile international appearances. The group’s return to the AMA stage once again highlights its enduring cultural and commercial influence on the music industry.
