Global K-pop group BLACKPINK has reached another major milestone on YouTube, further extending its record among K-pop artists.

According to YG Entertainment on April 16, the music video for “Ice Cream” surpassed 1 billion views on YouTube at approximately 4:12 p.m. the previous day. This marks BLACKPINK’s 10th video to reach the milestone, the highest number achieved by any K-pop act.

‘Ice Cream’ expands global reach with collaboration

“Ice Cream,” released in 2020, is a pop track characterized by a bright rhythm and playful sound. The song drew particular attention for its collaboration with Selena Gomez, marking one of BLACKPINK’s early large-scale global partnerships.

The track also stood out for introducing a softer and more “cute” concept compared to the group’s previous releases, contributing to an expansion of its musical and visual spectrum.

Chart performance reinforced international success

Beyond YouTube, the song recorded strong results on global charts. Upon release, it topped the iTunes Worldwide chart and reached No. 13 on the Billboard Hot 100, setting a new peak for a K-pop girl group at the time. The track remained on the chart for eight consecutive weeks.

“Ice Cream” was included in BLACKPINK’s first full-length album, THE ALBUM.  It achieved No. 2 on both the Billboard 200 and the UK Official Albums Chart. The album maintained its chart presence for 10 weeks in the U.S. and seven weeks in the UK. It marks a significant milestone for K-pop girl groups.

Record-breaking YouTube presence continues

With “Ice Cream” reaching 1 billion views, BLACKPINK now holds 10 music videos in the billion-view category, the most among K-pop artists. The group has also produced a total of 50 videos with over 100 million views.

Their official YouTube channel has surpassed 100 million subscribers, making them the first artist globally to achieve this figure. Total cumulative views across the channel have exceeded 41.7 billion, underscoring their sustained global influence.

As BLACKPINK continues to expand its digital footprint, the latest milestone reinforces the group’s position as one of the most prominent acts in the global music industry.
