Lucas has officially parted ways with SM Entertainment, marking a new chapter in his career following years of group and solo activities.

On April 24, SM Entertainment announced via fan communication platform Weverse that its exclusive contract with Lucas had concluded. “We would like to inform you that our exclusive contract with Lucas has ended as of April 24,” the company stated.

Agency confirms departure and future support

In its official statement, SM Entertainment expressed gratitude for the time spent working with the artist. “We will cherish the moments we have shared with Lucas, from his trainee days through his debut and various activities,” the agency said.

The company added that it would continue to support his future endeavors, encouraging fans to do the same. “We will cheer on Lucas as he embarks on new challenges, and we ask fans to look upon his new beginning with warmth,” the statement read.

The announcement formally concludes a professional relationship that began during Lucas’s trainee period and extended through multiple high-profile projects under the label.

Career across NCT, WayV, and SuperM

Lucas debuted in 2018 as a member of NCT U, later expanding his activities through WayV and the project group SuperM. During this period, he gained recognition for his stage presence and performance skills across international markets.

His activities were halted in 2021 following personal controversy involving allegations from an individual claiming to be a former partner. The situation led to a suspension of promotions, and in 2023 he officially departed from both NCT and WayV.

Transition toward independent activities

Lucas resumed his career in 2024 with the release of a solo single, signaling a cautious return to the industry. The latest development—his departure from SM Entertainment—suggests a shift toward more independent activities as he continues to rebuild his career.

While details regarding his next steps have not yet been disclosed, the conclusion of his contract opens the possibility for new management arrangements and creative directions.

As Lucas moves forward, attention will be focused on how he navigates this transitional phase and establishes his presence as a solo artist outside of SM Entertainment’s system.

He was born and raised in Hong Kong and is of mixed Chinese and Thai heritage, which contributed to his multilingual abilities and international appeal during his time with groups like NCT and WayV.
