A major K-pop and K-hip-hop festival scheduled for San Antonio, Texas, has been postponed until 2027 after organizers said uncertainty surrounding U.S. visa processing could prevent some international performers from arriving on time.
The KPOPWORLD Festival & Worldwide Dance Competition had been scheduled to run from October 28 through October 31, 2026, at the Alamodome. Organizers announced that the event would not proceed as planned after consulting immigration, production and event teams.
The decision affects a festival that had advertised Jay Park, The Rose, Wonho, WJSN’s Dayoung and CRAVITY among its performers. The four-day program will feature a two-day international dance competition with teams from 29 countries, followed by two concert days, merchandise sales, and an international vendor village.
No specific 2027 dates have been announced.
Organizers chose postponement over a smaller lineup
According to the festival’s statement reported by San Antonio media, the problem was uncertainty over whether some international artists and groups would obtain the necessary U.S. visas before the event.
Organizers said they had pursued expedited processing and consulted the relevant teams but could not be certain that every case would be completed in time. Rather than hold the festival with a significantly smaller lineup, they decided to postpone the entire event.
That distinction matters. The announcement does not say that the artists were denied visas. It says the processing timeline had become too uncertain for organizers to guarantee the advertised festival experience.
It is also unclear whether every artist announced for the 2026 edition will remain attached to the rescheduled festival. A move to 2027 requires the venue, performers and production partners to coordinate an entirely new set of dates. Fans should therefore treat the original lineup as a record of what was planned, not as a confirmed 2027 lineup.
The postponement shows how an administrative delay involving only part of a festival lineup can affect the whole event. A multi-artist festival is more difficult to reschedule than a single concert because artist availability, travel, production equipment, rehearsals and venue access must all align.
What ticket holders should check now
The festival team told local media that Ticketmaster will refund purchases to the original buyer and payment method, with refunds expected within 14 business days. They also informed ticket holders that they will receive presale codes before tickets for the rescheduled event go on sale.
However, Ticketmaster’s event page still displayed a general postponement notice as of September 21. That notice advised customers to retain their tickets because they will remain valid for a new date.
The two messages do not fully align. Fans should check the email address and Ticketmaster account used for the original purchase before taking further action. Those who bought tickets through another person must rely on the original purchaser to monitor the refund. This is because Ticketmaster will return the money to the payment method used at checkout.
Fans who booked flights or hotels separately should also contact those providers directly. A concert-ticket refund does not automatically cover independent travel expenses, and cancellation conditions differ by airline, hotel and booking platform.
What remains unknown about the 2027 festival
The organizers have said KPOPWORLD will return in 2027, but several important details remain unconfirmed: the new dates, the final venue arrangement, the participating artists and the timing of the next ticket sale.
Until those details are formally announced, “postponed to 2027” should not be interpreted as a fully scheduled replacement event.
For international K-pop fans, the practical next step is to retain all purchase records, watch for an official Ticketmaster email and avoid making new travel arrangements based only on the promise of a 2027 return.
The postponement is disappointing for fans who had planned to travel to San Antonio, but organizers concluded that delaying the festival was preferable to presenting a substantially reduced lineup. The next test will be whether KPOPWORLD can confirm its new dates and participating artists early enough to give fans confidence—and enough time to plan again.
