JeA has officially stepped into a new phase of her career, announcing a fully independent path as she prepares to take complete control of her music production.

The singer shared the update on April 22 through her official social media channels, revealing a long-considered decision to move forward on her own terms. “I’ve finally started something I’ve been thinking about for a long time,” she wrote, signaling a turning point after years of balancing group and individual activities. She added that her goal is to create music entirely by herself, from the earliest stages of production to the final result.

A deliberate shift toward full creative control

JeA’s announcement highlights a growing trend among established K-pop artists seeking greater autonomy over their work. By choosing to handle the full creative process, she positions herself not only as a vocalist but as a producer shaping her own artistic identity.

She noted that the transition has been supported by encouragement from those around her, adding that she is currently immersed in the creative process. Alongside the announcement, she introduced a new official social media account, where she plans to document her workflow, share updates, and communicate more directly with fans.

“I want to share everything—from my work process to my daily thoughts,” she explained, emphasizing a more personal and transparent connection with her audience.

Despite ongoing recovery from vocal strain, JeA made it clear that she intends to maintain momentum. “I’m still working on restoring my vocal condition, but I won’t stop moving forward,” she said, expressing determination as she begins this new chapter.

From group legacy to individual expansion

JeA first debuted in 2006 as the leader and main vocalist of Brown Eyed Girls, one of the most influential girl groups of its generation. Alongside members Miryo, Narsha, and Gain, she helped define a distinctive musical identity that pushed the boundaries of K-pop.

The group achieved widespread recognition with hits such as Abracadabra and Sixth Sense, both of which showcased bold concepts and experimental soundscapes that set them apart in the industry.

Although Brown Eyed Girls have not engaged in full group promotions since 2019, the members have continued to maintain a visible bond. Earlier this year, they marked their 20th anniversary with a private celebration, sharing photos that reaffirmed their longstanding friendship and unity.

Individually, each member has pursued diverse activities across music, entertainment, and production, contributing to the group’s enduring influence even during hiatus periods.

Proven track record as vocalist and producer

Beyond her group success, JeA has steadily built a reputation as both a solo artist and a behind-the-scenes creator. Her solo releases—including While You Were Sleeping, Don’t Want to Say I’m Lonely, and On Rainy Days—have highlighted her vocal depth and emotional range.

She has also been active as a composer affiliated with MonoTree, contributing to various projects and demonstrating versatility across genres. Her involvement in songwriting and production has long signaled an interest in deeper creative participation, making her latest move a natural progression.

Having recently concluded her contract with her agency, JeA now enters what could be considered the second act of her career. Her decision to independently produce music reflects both confidence in her artistic direction and a desire for greater ownership over her work.

As she embarks on this new journey, attention is turning to how her self-produced sound will evolve and what it may add to her already established musical legacy.
