K-pop girl group ITZY is stepping into a new era of confidence and self-reflection with the release of their latest mini album Motto.
Ahead of the album’s release on May 18, the members shared a deeper message behind the project — one centered on choosing themselves after overcoming moments of doubt and uncertainty.
“‘I choose myself’ is the message we hope people feel,” member Lia explained. “I wanted to give myself more choices.”
The new album arrives about six months after Tunnel Vision and follows the successful launch of ITZY’s third world tour earlier this year.
It also comes amid the viral popularity of the group’s “That’s A NO NO” challenge, proving the group’s momentum remains strong heading into their seventh year since debut.
The title track, also called Motto, combines dreamy synth sounds and deep reverb effects with lyrics about finding someone who reflects your true self at the edge of despair. Rather than focusing solely on external validation, the song delivers a more mature message about trusting your own choices and embracing your identity.
The album includes eight tracks in total, featuring songs such as Glitch, you And I, and solo performances from all five members. Each solo track highlights a different side of the members’ personalities and artistic colors.
Leader Yeji contributes the solo track Pocket, while Lia takes on the emotional Asylum. Ryujin presents LOOK, Chaeryeong performs Undefined, and Yuna closes out the solo lineup with Tangerine.
The project also features an impressive creative team, including renowned producers, KASS, and Sim Eunjee. Director Léa Esmaili led the trailer production, helping shape the album’s surreal and philosophical visual identity.

Known for empowering concepts and high-energy performances since debuting in 2019, ITZY has built a reputation as one of K-pop’s defining performance groups. The quintet rose to fame with hits like DALLA DALLA, WANNABE, and LOCO, earning praise for their bold confidence-driven concepts and synchronized choreography. With Motto, however, the group appears to be entering a more introspective chapter — one that balances strength with vulnerability while continuing to evolve both musically and emotionally.
