Korea’s pop boyband NCT’s Doyoung and Jungwoo to Start Mandatory Military Service from December
NCT members Doyoung and Jungwoo are set to begin their mandatory military service next month, according to an official statement released by SM Entertainment on October 30.
Doyoung will enlist as an active-duty soldier in the Republic of Korea Army on December 8, while Jungwoo, who has been accepted into the Army Band, is scheduled to enlist on the same day.
SM Entertainment confirmed that no official events will be held to mark their enlistment. “As the enlistment site is shared with numerous military personnel and their families, we respectfully ask fans to refrain from visiting for safety reasons,” the agency stated. “We appreciate your continued support and hope both members will complete their service in good health.”
With their enlistment, Doyoung and Jungwoo become the third and fourth members of NCT to fulfill their national defense obligations. Member Taeyong joined the Navy military band in April and is expected to be discharged on December 14. Jaehyun, who enlisted in November, is currently serving in the Army military band and is scheduled for discharge on May 3, 2026.
The group’s enlistments come as part of South Korea’s mandatory military service requirement for all able-bodied male citizens, typically lasting between 18 and 21 months depending on the branch of service.
