MAMAMOO members Hwasa and Wheein have opened up about a shocking argument from their younger days, revealing that a drunken disagreement once escalated into a physical fight and a week-long cold war.

The story was shared during the June 8 episode of YouTube talk show “Zzanbro Shin Dong-yup,” where all four MAMAMOO members appeared as guests and reflected on memorable moments from their years together.

A Friendly Night Turned Into a Fight

According to the members, the incident occurred during a trip to Japan.

Hwasa and Wheein, who have been close friends since middle school, were reportedly relaxing in their hotel room and expressing affection toward one another while drinking.

However, as the night went on, a minor disagreement unexpectedly escalated.

The two eventually found themselves exchanging punches and kicks in what they described as a full-blown fight.

Memories Were Blurry the Next Day

Wheein explained that the situation became even more confusing because the two experienced alcohol differently.

“I usually remember everything even when I drink,” she recalled. “But Hwasa tends to black out, so the next day both of us only remembered fragments of what happened.”

The aftermath was significant. The pair reportedly avoided each other for more than a week, creating tension throughout the group.

Other Members Got Caught in the Middle

Leader Solar remembered witnessing the awkward atmosphere during schedules that followed.

“The next day we had work together, and Wheein kept asking me to pass messages along,” Solar said. “They wouldn’t even make eye contact. At first I didn’t understand what was happening, but later I found out they had fought.”

The tension became so obvious that the rest of the group quickly noticed something was wrong.

“We Fought Hard, So We Became Closer”

Despite the dramatic story, the members agreed that those conflicts ultimately strengthened their friendship.

“I think fighting properly can actually be good,” Hwasa said with a laugh. “We really fought hard. Sometimes our dorm rooms would be completely torn apart. Because we went through that, we’re very comfortable with each other now.”

Moonbyul echoed the sentiment, saying the group often argued intensely in their younger years but became stronger as a result.

Growing Older Changed the Way They Argue

The members also joked that age has changed how they handle disagreements.

“When you’re younger, you have the energy for physical fights,” Solar joked. “Now we’re older, our bodies get tired. These days we just argue with words.”

Her comment drew laughter from both the members and host Shin Dong-yup.

The veteran comedian praised the group’s honesty, noting that unresolved emotions can eventually damage relationships.

Rather than hiding conflicts, MAMAMOO’s members suggested that openly addressing disagreements helped them build the strong bond that has kept the group together for more than a decade.
