Jisoo of BLACKPINK has taken a significant step forward in her acting career, earning international recognition at a major global festival in France.

On April 23 (local time), Jisoo was awarded the Madame Figaro Rising Star Award at the opening ceremony of the Cannes International Series Festival. The honor is presented to promising actors who demonstrate notable potential and growth, placing her among emerging talents in the global entertainment industry.

Recognition at a global television festival

The Cannes International Series Festival, launched in 2018, is a prominent event dedicated to television dramas and series from around the world. Jisoo’s selection for the Rising Star Award highlights her expanding presence beyond music into acting on an international stage.

During the ceremony, she appeared on the pink carpet in a soft pink tube-top dress, presenting a refined and elegant image. Upon receiving the award, she addressed the audience in French, saying “Merci beaucoup,” before continuing her acceptance speech.

“I wanted to show new sides of myself through various activities,” Jisoo said. “Every step of the process has become a driving force that helps me move forward.”

Expanding acting portfolio

Festival organizers introduced Jisoo as a rising figure who continues to grow artistically while balancing music and acting. They referenced her recent projects, including the Netflix series Monthly Boyfriend and Newtopia, noting her steady progression as a performer on screen.

Jisoo first established her acting presence with the drama Snowdrop, which marked her transition from idol to actress. Since then, she has continued to expand her portfolio, taking on diverse roles that showcase her range and on-screen appeal.

Her activities in music have laid the foundation for a broader career in entertainment, allowing her to reach audiences across multiple platforms.

The Cannes recognition signals a new phase in her career, where her work as an actress is gaining acknowledgment alongside her established success in music.

As she continues to take on new projects, industry observers are closely watching how Jisoo will further develop her presence in global film and television.
