NewJeans is proving once again that some hits never fade
The group’s breakout track “Ditto” has officially surpassed 900 million streams on Spotify, marking another major milestone in their global journey. The achievement highlights the song’s enduring popularity more than a year after its release.
According to Spotify, “Ditto” recorded over 900 million cumulative streams as of April 1, becoming NewJeans’ second track to reach the milestone following “OMG.” The number continues to climb steadily, reflecting consistent global listening.
Released in December 2022, “Ditto” quickly captured attention with its unique blend of Baltimore club dance music and NewJeans’ signature emotional sound. The track’s soft humming, warm production, and gentle vocals created a mood that resonated deeply with listeners.
The impact was immediate.
Within just six months of debut, NewJeans entered both the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States and the UK Official Singles Chart Top 100 with “Ditto” — a rare achievement for a rookie group. In Korea, the song dominated as well, topping the 2023 Melon annual chart.
Even now, “Ditto” continues to show remarkable longevity. The track has remained a fan favorite, often resurfacing during winter seasons as listeners revisit its nostalgic and sentimental vibe.
An industry official noted, “Few K-pop songs maintain this level of consistency across global platforms. ‘Ditto’ has clearly become a defining track of its generation.”
The song’s global recognition extends beyond streaming. It earned “Best K-Pop Song in Japan” at a major Japanese music awards show and achieved triple platinum certification for streaming in Japan — a first for a K-pop girl group track.
NewJeans’ overall streaming power is equally impressive. The group has now produced 15 songs with over 100 million streams on Spotify, with total cumulative streams exceeding 7.4 billion across all releases.
As K-pop continues to evolve, “Ditto” stands as proof that emotional storytelling and strong musical identity can create lasting global impact.
