Kim Minjong Denies MC Mong’s Illegal Gambling Claims, Announces Legal Action
Singer and actor Kim Minjong has firmly denied recent allegations raised by rapper MC Mong regarding an alleged illegal gambling circle involving celebrities.
On May 19, Kim Minjong released an official statement through his legal representative, law firm OKIMS, strongly rejecting the claims as false.
“I would like to clearly state that the rumors currently circulating about me are not true,” Kim said in the statement.
He added that after thoroughly reviewing the facts, he plans to pursue both civil and criminal legal action against those responsible for spreading false information.
“I will act carefully so as not to disappoint those who have trusted and supported me for a long time,” he continued.
The controversy began after MC Mong claimed during a livestream on May 18 that there was an illegal gambling gathering involving celebrities and alleged that Kim Minjong was one of the participants.
In response, Kim Minjong’s legal team criticized the spread of what they described as “groundless private-life rumors and malicious suspicions,” arguing that the actor’s reputation has suffered serious damage as a result.
The statement further emphasized that all allegations involving Kim Minjong are “clearly false,” adding that the veteran entertainer intends to confront the matter directly without compromise in order to prove his innocence.
Kim Minjong debuted in the entertainment industry in the early 1990s and became one of Korea’s most recognizable multi-entertainers through successful careers in both music and acting. Known for hit dramas, ballads, and long-running public popularity, he has maintained a relatively clean public image throughout his decades-long career.
