Actress Han So-hee has opened up about her thoughts on marriage, children and what she hopes to find in a future partner, offering a surprisingly candid glimpse into her plans beyond acting.

Speaking during an interview in Seoul on September 8 ahead of the release of her new film The Intern, Han said she hopes to get married before she turns 40.

The actress explained that her interest in marriage is closely connected to her desire to have children.

“I don’t really have a fantasy about marriage, but I do want to have a child,” Han said, adding that she would like to marry before reaching 40.

Han So-hee Reveals What She Wants in a Partner

When asked about her ideal future spouse, Han first emphasized one quality: stability.

She then added a more playful requirement, saying that because she dreams of having children, she would also like her future partner to be genetically good-looking “for the second generation.”

Han laughed about the answer, acknowledging that wanting someone who is both stable and attractive is hardly an unusual preference.

Her comments quickly became one of the standout moments from the interview, with several Korean entertainment outlets highlighting her unusually straightforward response about marriage and her ideal partner.

But Han’s comments about starting a family went beyond her future husband’s appearance.

She Would Consider Stepping Away From Acting for Her Child

Han also revealed that having a child could lead her to take a significant break from her acting career.

If she becomes a mother, she said she would ideally like to personally care for her child until they enter elementary school.

The actress explained that she wants to create as many positive memories between mother and child as possible during those early years.

While acknowledging that existing professional commitments could affect such a plan, Han indicated that raising her future child herself would be an important priority.

The remarks offer a rare look at how Han imagines balancing family life with one of Korea’s most high-profile acting careers.

From Actress to Entertainment Reporter?

The conversation about marriage began with a lighthearted question connected to Han’s latest movie.

Asked what kind of intern she would like to become in real life, Han unexpectedly chose entertainment reporter.

She joked that she types quickly and thought meeting celebrities and interviewing them would be fun.

When asked what question she would pose to celebrities, Han answered: when they plan to get married.

The reporters then turned the same question back on her — leading to her revelation about wanting to marry before 40.

Han So-hee Returns to the Big Screen With The Intern

Han’s comments come as she prepares for the release of the Korean adaptation of the 2015 Hollywood film The Intern.

In the Korean version, Han plays Sun-woo, a successful but overworked CEO who has transformed her fashion company into a rising industry player.

Veteran actor Choi Min-sik stars opposite her as Gi-ho, a retired professional with 37 years of experience who joins Sun-woo’s company as a senior intern.

The film is directed by Kim Do-young, whose previous work includes Kim Ji-young: Born 1982.

The Intern is scheduled to open in South Korean theaters on September 16. The movie had already climbed to No. 1 among Korean films in advance ticket sales earlier this month.

For Han, the interview revealed nearly as much about her future as about the movie.

She spoke of marriage before 40 and raising a child herself. The actress showed that while her career stays in the spotlight, family is also part of the life she hopes to build.
