The scheduled Coachella performance by Anyma was abruptly canceled due to severe weather conditions, casting uncertainty over a highly anticipated appearance by Lisa.

The announcement was made in the early hours of April 11 (Korea time) by organizers of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, who cited strong winds as the primary reason behind the decision. The set was originally planned as a closing performance on the main stage.

Performance halted over safety concerns

According to the festival organizers, the high winds disrupted the installation of Anyma’s complex stage setup, which relies heavily on large-scale visual structures. “Due to strong winds, there have been issues installing stage equipment, and we have decided to cancel the performance with audience safety as our top priority,” the statement was quoted as reading.

Anyma is widely known for immersive performances combining melodic techno with large-scale 3D visual elements, often featuring dystopian humanoid imagery. The scale and technical demands of the production appear to have made it particularly vulnerable to weather conditions.

The organizers reportedly added that updates regarding potential rescheduling would be announced at a later time.

Lisa collaboration fuels anticipation

The cancellation drew heightened attention due to speculation surrounding a possible on-stage appearance by Lisa. The BLACKPINK member recently collaborated with Anyma on the track “Bad Angel,” released on April 8.

While no official confirmation had been made, promotional materials displayed at the venue prominently featured “Bad Angel,” leading fans to anticipate a surprise performance involving Lisa. The collaboration quickly gained traction among both K-pop audiences and electronic music listeners following its release.

The music video for “Bad Angel” showcased Lisa in a striking “fallen angel humanoid” concept, blending mechanical aesthetics with bold visual storytelling. The project was widely praised as a fusion of digital art and performance, further raising expectations for a live rendition at Coachella.

Artist expresses disappointment, seeks alternatives

Following the cancellation, Anyma addressed fans through social media, expressing disappointment over the outcome. He reportedly said it is very painful after a year of preparation from both team and staff.  He added that people are making efforts to find a way to share the music. Coachella will continue across two weekends, running from April 10–12 and April 17–19 (local time) in California. The cancellation highlights how external conditions can affect even high-profile performances at large-scale live events.
